So, no big surprise that everywhere you go, there are olive trees, olives, olive oil etc. When we got to the house, they had stocked our kitchen with all the stuff we asked for (butter, eggs, bread, juice, y'know, the basic stuff... oh, and of course, potato chips. On our ride over to Chania, we stopped in a gas station for snacks, and bought a bag of Lays Potato chips flavored with OREGANO!!!). Anyway, when they stocked our kitchen, they didn't include vegetable oil. No need, they said. This is a photo of where they keep olive oil in the pantry. There is no vegetable oil (corn, soybean or canola) here. ONLY olive oil.... and LOTS OF IT.
They even pack olives in olive oil. What a concept!
