Last night in Athens

Emotions are running very high tonight.  All the comments we picked up from various sources about "oh yeah, Athens - 2-3 days is more than enough".... well, we all totally disagree.  Athens is an incredible, vibrant and amazing city, and we all regret not staying longer.  The people are wonderful - warm, charming, astonishingly beautiful (Katie, remember "the greek ideal" from Theatrical Makeup class?  He wasn't kidding - these people are handsome beyond description).

We had dinner, as planned, on the roof of the Hotel Grande Bretagne.  For the most part four star, but the mushroom risotto was more like "rice and cheese".  Spectacular deserts, amazing service, and greek wine that was lovely. Considering the poor soils of Greece, combined with the climate that is strikingly similar to Napa Valley, Greece seems a likely place to someday be a great wine producing region. The greek wines we drank with dinner indicate they're well on their way.

Maria - lovely, attentive, and very VERY good at keeping her guests happy

"You had me at bitter"

"None of your mind!"

The Acropolis, as seen from the restaurant

King George - standing in front of some hotel with a silly name
