Day 2 in Crete

After the energy, noise, and vitality of Athens, we've landed in a bucolic paradise. Crete has BIG mountains plunging straight into the deepest and most intense blue seas I've ever seen. The mountains are still capped with snow - amazing when you consider the temps at sea level - it was REALLY warm today (definitely in the 90s).

The house is really something....although we were a little surprised with these signs posted in all the bathrooms:

Even though George said "Yeah, they mean THAT KIND of  paper"... we called our hostess, and sure enough, THAT KIND of paper doesn't go into the plumbing.  YIKES.  Next to all the commodes are conveniently positioned little trash cans with foot operated lids.  Fortunately, we have daily maid service (she was here for about 2 hours today and thanked us profusely (in Greek, of course - no speaka the english)  for being so tidy.  HA!.

We were bummed the pool isn't heated, but today were glad to have it cool - it was a scorcher!  Here's a pic of the pool.

  1. Glad you got some hot weather ... though it has been quite warm in the Bay Area for the past few days, too.
