First night in Athens

Never seen an entertainment district in my life quite like the one we explored in Athens this evening.  Quite literally tens of THOUSANDS of  people streaming into a formerly scary, abandoned and decrepit neighborhood.  Crowds so thick it was difficult to walk - but we DID manage to navigate our way through and find some good street food and a couple fun bars (so loud my ears are bleeding - but hey, they want to make sure you can here that awesome, unforgettable house music!).

The view of the Parthenon and Acropolis from the rooftop bar of the hotel.

Another view of Parliament, from the roof top bar

During what was undoubtedly the most emotional and expected moment of the trip (so far), we walked a couple blocks away from the madness of the Gazi district to locate the house George was raised in.  When we found the house (photo above), George was overhwelmed when we walked up to the remains of what was once his childhood home.

    1. Only saw one episode of Downton Abby, but LOVED it. Looking forward to diving in big time. Haven't turned on the TV here (yet) but expect it may "be all greek to me)... which will make watching Downton Abby during down time a bit more compelling.
