Chania harbor lighthouse
An crumbly that we affectionately nicknamed "the Sugar Bowl"
A hotel on the Chania waterfront - probably not a 5-star, but what it lacks for in luxury it makes up for in... um... history???
If you've ever been to Disney World in Orlando, and seen their "boardwalk" attraction (near the Swan and Dolphin hotels)...I think that it was patterned after Chania habor, which is lined with shops, restaurants, bars, patios and people... but no cars or scooters.
It is now after midnight...Kevin, George, John and I (Jim) are having a nightcap while Jeff & Mark sleep (or try to), as the are getting up at daybreak to brave the Samorian Gorge (a 5-7 hour, 12km hike through the nearby mountains to the southern part of the Chania island). Fortunately for them, and the rest of us, we have a private chef arriving tomorrow eve to provide a traditional Greek feast...what a wonderful incentive for the hiking boys.. As they went to bed among our wishes of "happy trails" and "happy gorging", the rest of us are headed for the nearby white sandy beaches (and beach bar!) for more relaxation. Oh, the good life...
ReplyDeleteThe lighthouse photo is stunning. Best wishes to the hiking boys for their trek to the gorge.
